The industrial development has been one of the main responsibilities of the Ministry’s since its establishment in 1959. Initially, the Service was known as "The Industry Service", and later on renamed "Industrial and Development Service". In 2015, because of the Ministry's restructuring this service has been merged with the "Technology Service" and has been renamed to "Industry and Technology Service".
